Composts are as diverse as their input materials and their production methods. Integrated in agricultural production composts can initiate a variety of positive processes. But poor compost qualities can also bring potential toxic substances into soils.
The following parameters are analyzed:
Basic parameters: pHWater, pHKCl, Electrical Conductivity (eC), Lime Content, Content of organic Matter, C/N-Ratios, Nt, Wet Density;
Water-soluble substances (nutrients, trace elements, pot. toxic substances): Ca, Mg, K, Na, NH4-N, NO3-N, Al, Ba, P, Si, SO4, Cl, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Co, Mo, B, As, Ni, Cr, Pb, Cd, Tl, V;
“Total Contents” (nutrients, trace elements, pot. toxic substances): Ca, Mg, K, Na, Al, Ba, P, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Co, Mo, B, As, Ni, Cr, Pb, Cd, Tl, V.
A representative composite sample should be taken. If it’s necessary to assess the samples with regard to a legal foundation (e.g. Bundesabfallwirtschaftsplan BAWP, Compost Ordinance) certificated service providers have to take the samples.
